The song was covered again in 1992 by the almighty Swing Out Sister who, although largely faithful to the earlier efforts, added a splendid ad lib at the end - “Have you ever stopped and wondered what it is you’re searching for?” - and disgraced no one in the process. It’s that kind of record.

My sister loved SOS. They were about the only common ground that we shared at that time (Breakout, not the later stuff). Later, I might have admitted a passing fondness for Wet Wet Wet's Memphis Sessions but that was it. God, I hated her taste in music.

Don't think I ever paid SOS much mind. I had 'Breakout', but then everyone did, didn't they? 'Am I The Same Girl?' popped up in a bargain bin in Cornwall when I was busy buying the entire shop - proper CD pricing hadn't hit the West Country.
Big sis generally ignored pop music; little sis liked what I told her before the teen indie bug bit. Memphis Sessions classic, natch.
